Digital Tools You Didn’t Know You Needed

A toolbox for the digital world which we currently live in.

CoViD-19 has probably made us dwell in the digital world more than ever before, and have also made us rely more heavily on digital tools in our day-to-day lives, be it managing, storing, or getting things done. In this write up, I hope to share some of the tools which has enhanced my digital lifestyle which I hope you’d be able to find useful.

archive.today - Website

Ever read an interesting article halfway and only being able to access the remaining content only if you pay or sign up for the site? archive.is is a webpage capture tool that helps to acquire the content past the paywall which is getting common these days.

By copying the article page link and pasting it into archive.is entry box and clicking “save”, you will be able to access most sites you want to after the site processes all the information.

Note: archive.is may not be able to acquire the article from certain information providers due to paywall complexity or other reasons, but most of it worked for me.

raindrop.io - Windows, macOS, iOS, Android

Found an interesting article to save but don’t have a proper bookmark manager to manage all your interesting finds in one place? Introducing raindrop.io.

raindrop.io is bookmark manager that saves links of your favorite articles and allows you to manage or group them accordingly all in one place. raindrop.io does have features such as searching, tagging and grouping which makes finding saved links and articles easily.

What’s more? It’s cross platform which means whatever you saved from your Windows device can be access on your iPhone or Android device. Imagine a Google Drive just for articles/ sites, pretty cool if you love saving interesting without having to clutter your browser’s bookmark manager.

Bitwarden - Windows, macOS, iOS, Android

According to new research from NordPass, the average person has 100 passwords to remember, that’s so many! I believe it’s quite frequent where you say to yourself, “Ah, what is the ID and password for this site?”

Bitwarden has been my go to after I have started my search for a decent password manager that’s FREE, yea I’m a cheapskate on things like this. Bitwarden has been able to do basically anything that reputable password managers such as LastPass and 1Password, that requires payment to have features like cross platform integration, which is so convenient.

They have an app for Windows, Android and Apple devices, as well as Chrome extension, which makes it even more convenient while filling up on any site.

Notion - Windows, macOS, iOS, Android

Notion is an all-in-one workspace — for notes, tasks, wikis, and databases. Notion has been a great digital tool for my notes taking when I’m researching onto something, while being able to organize them easily on the go. On top of that, Notion makes it easy to track tasks with to-do list, Kanban board and timeline view, it’s an awesome tool if you’re looking into tracking or increasing our productivity.

In addition, if you’re looking to create a website of your own to share your thoughts and opinions without having to go through the infrastructures of web development and blogging sites. You could consider doing so with Notion which allows you to make your Notion pages shareable to people around you by creating a simple link.

Ditto - Windows only

Ditto is an underrated tool which has been very essential in my daily life where I do a lot of copy-paste-ing. What Ditto does is that it saves a history of everything you have copied and allowing you to access it anytime you need it. Copied something a few items before the last thing you copied? Access Ditto through your shortcut to find it waiting there for you.

Snipaste - Windows only

Snipaste is a tool which I came across during my temp job as a AutoCAD Drafter. The main highlight of Snipaste allows you to snip anything on your screen and pin it on your screen as a floating window that stays on top of the screen at all time. Great to use if you are referring something.

On top of that, Snipaste also allows you to do basic items such as taking a screenshot and pasting it somewhere, as well as adding annotations on the go. You’d come to realize it’s such a time saver compared to Windows Snipping Tool + Post Edit in Paint approach.
